We are newbies to campers and powered boondocking. We just purchased a 200watt Renogy Suitcase and another 12v deep cycle battery to add to our current 12v battery living in the tougue box. I understand how to connect one battery to another but has anyone else created a 2 battery set up that can provide advice on placement of both batteries in a 2018 T@G XL? Or do I carry the 2nd battery in the towing vehicle and only set it up and connect it to the other battery when we are using solar? Any support/advice would be very appreciated. Looking forward to getting on the road soon!

I can't really chime in on this too much, but after the research I have done I don't see any major advantage to running two 12v batteries. I see a lot of people running two 6vs in series, and also a lot switching to lithium 12v 100ah batteries. I can see how the combination of the 12v lithium and the two 6vs would work well with solar, but I am thinking you could keep one of the 12v in the tow vehicle and use it as supplemental power in case the sun isn't shining enough to charge your main batt.

Connect them in "parallel" to maintain the 12v system (see video). If you connect them in "series", you end up with a 24v system.
Good luck. You'll have lots of power.
