Adding a portable ice maker

Here’s what I believe is a new mod. Ever get tired of paying for ice. Or you’re just a distance from a store so it’s inconvenient. Or lately we’ve been seeing stores completely sold out of ice. We just purchased a portable ice maker, and I built/mounted a custom-designed box on the tongue of our T@G. It won’t make 10-pound bags, but it will certainly make enough for daily happy hour drinks and supplement the ice in a high efficiency cooler like a Yeti (or less-expensive knock-off - Cascade Mountain Tech Super Cooler). Do note that this takes 110 power, so you need to be on shore power, or have a 110V inverter and a good battery like a 100Ah lithium.

Greg what brand is your ice maker?

We (read my wife) intentionally bought a relatively inexpensive one. There are much more expensive models available. Who knows if they would work any better.

The only issue we've seen so far is that it doesn't really work if the ambient temperature is above 85-ish. The ice melts as fast as it is made.

Greg Thank you...We just moved to a condo in Gig Harbor with a humungus frig. Not hooked up to water. Was thinking about your ice maker. Might get one for home and try taking on the road. See how that goes. Appreciate ya...
