Use for your old sleeping pads

If you're like us, you tent camped for many years before finally getting your little trailer. We found the standard mattresses in the T@G were just OK. In certain sleeping positions, boney portions of the body like the hips would compress the thin mattress to the point that the hard plywood underneath was uncomfortable. Then we got the idea to use our old blow-up sleeping pads under the mattress and this made a world of difference. The only issue, which is really a slight one and depends wholly on the size of your sleeping pads, is that they may not be as wide as your mattress. Another challenge is that they raise the height/thickness of the mattress, so it hits on the air conditioner cabinet when you lift the bed to access the storage.
There are many options - of varying cost - to improve the mattress situation, but this may be a free solution for you as it was for us.

We put a couple of 3/4" yoga mats under there, and it also helps quite a bit.

That’s a good use for your old camping pads. I bought a couple of anti fatigue floor Matts, from Harbor Freight and placed them under the mattress. I think I paid about $18, for two of them. It makes all the difference in the world.

I have the REI pads in my trailer. They really help.

I used my old memory foam on top, after replacing my bed mattress. it works perfect!

I also have a Froli System. Its not the fancy system in multiple colors. Its the low end system. Frankly, I don't like it. It doesn't add much comfort and its a pain to make the bed with it on.

We bought a king sized 2" memory foam mattress and cut/trimmed it to make twin mattresses for our 5W. Tried it under and atop the original mattresses and liked it atop much better than below. The original mattress suited my wife but was a little too thin for me. As you might guess, I'm about 70 lbs heavier than she is. Very comfortable now and the combo fits inside a twin fitted sheet. We take the mattresses out of the T@G to change the bottom sheets.

Ya know-- We purchased a 2017 a year or so ago. The previous owner had a foam thing cut to fit on top of the stock mattress. Dang that is more comfortable than the Sleep Number hoop de do we have here at home. We have added the topper to our 30 year old sleep number. Love em both.
