Roof racks on a Tag XL (not boondocks)

We are in the process of buying a 2018 Tag XL. I would like to put a roof rack on for an awning. I inquired at our local Nucamp dealer about this and they said non boondocks don’t have the roof structure for a roof rack. I’m a bit confused because I have seen a number posts on various tag groups with roof racks on them. Can anyone enlighten me?

Guess I should have waited before posting. Nucamp got back to me much faster than I expected they. They said yes it is possible but some dealers don’t feel confident doing it.

So, my next question, I live in southern Wisconsin, does any have recommendations for a Nucamp dealer in the Midwest who they know has a done a roof rack install? I I could take it to Nucamp but it would take sometime for them to get to it.

I would be very careful. There are horror stories of installs gone wrong.

Thanks @stevemilligan42 , we ended buying a new one with roof racks already mounted.

If you can schedule it at the factory and wait it out that’s what I would do. They are the experts and experienced hands, they know the parameters and will do a great job installing it.
