I tow my tag boondock trailer with a wrangler jlu and use it to go bird hunting out west with my pointers. The problem is the rear door cannot open with the trailer attached. I used a extension on the hitch last year, but I did not like the extra torque on the jeep. I am considering having the tongue of the trailer extended and a articulating hitch installed. Has anyone done this?

Simple solution without an extension. You can pull the jack out while you're hooked up.https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Jack/Ultimate-Jack/322-RDJ-2K.html?feed=npn&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google | Shop - Trailer Jack&adgroupid=85653012626&campaignid=202880537&creative=404001548150&device=c&devicemodel=&feeditemid=&keyword=&loc_interest_ms=&loc_physical_ms=9020799&matchtype=&network=g&placement=&position=&gclid=CjwKCAjw2rmWBhB4EiwAiJ0mtSGv6h1tWgLsifL2gDkcqS_OBTOoO_q8SsFfkZLqLcuxqqzfxVYDyRoCqf0QAvD_BwE

I also have a JLU and swapped out this hitch with the OEM. I like that I can use a cordless drill to raise and lower it.
Another choice is an Ultimate jack. You can remove and reinsert the shaft while hooked up

Did the ultimate jack fit attach to the existing three holes from the OEM jack or did you have to do any modification to install it?
Just wondering about the fit of this jack and whether or not I would be able to install it and use it easily… I have a 22 XL boondock.
Took about 20 minutes total to swap out on my 2016 5W. removed bolts, removed jack, inserted new jack and replaced bolts. I've been told that the Ultimate Jack won't work on a Boondock because the center bar on the front storage rack is too close to the jack position. Not enough room for the mechanism that allows you to rapidly raise, lower and remove the shaft. Need five or six inches of space

I do have a boondock and I’m bummed that the ultimate jack won’t work… that center rack is only half inch from the back of the jack. Thanks so much for the info and for saving me from ordering something that I’d have to return.
