Exterior handle repair

While moving our new t@g on flat surface one of the exterior moving handle pulled out of the housing. I tried screwing it back in but the location where the screw was is now stripped and won't tighten.
Is there a fix for this anyone might have encountered?
Maybe a larger screw?

Thank you

Hi there. I would fill the hole with an epoxy wood filler from JB weld or Gorilla glue.  Pre drill a smaller hole for the same screw.

We’ve found with our T@G those handles are week for steering sideway so we steer with the tongue and pull/push forward and back with the handles.

Thank you so much! Sounds like a good idea. Yes, its too bad the handles are not more useful.

Thank you for the suggestion, we cleaned up the area, filled with some gorilla glue as you suggested and some small toothpick sized wood slivers and reinstalled (with weather proof caulking. Handle seems stronger now then the factory side. We were thinking of just removing them completely.

While moving the trailer the front handle bent outward, and the screws came loose and were partially pulled out. Going to attempt a repair, anybody have any idea what the screws attach to in the trailer, is it an aluminum frame or wood? Any ideas on how to reattach the screws to hold the handle in place?

@RayjoeJim - I moved your post to an existing thread.
There is some info in this thread that describes removing and reinstalling the handle.
