Fender Lights

On our last trip, I noticed the fender light on the passenger side was flickering on and off. Upon inspection, I noticed some kinks in the wire where the tire had rubbed on it. I cut and spliced the wires and moved it out of the way of the tires and it works fine. My bigger concern is why the tire would rub on the wall of the trailer. It obviously isn’t doing it constantly or I would’ve had a lot more problems. it probably happened when I hit a big bump. Just curious if anyone else has had similar problems. Not sure if I have a problem with my axle or not.

I want to verify which wires go where. Black and red together? And white on white?

Same problem. Wires severed.

@Stedon it looks like our wiring is a little different.

Well, I connected black and red together. I connected white to white. All of this per a large amount of research on TAG trailer lighting. Fender light still does not work. In fact, the passenger side fender light does not work now either. In addition to that, the side running lights on both sides and back lights are not working when turning headlights on in truck. The turn signals work and the brake lights work.  In my desire to save a few bucks and attempt to fix the fender light on my own, I think I have created on even bigger problem. Now I have to get a professional electrician out here.

Update. Turns out I needed a new axle. Got that done at my dealer.

D'Oh! How pricey was it? We have a new to us 2017 T@G XL Outback and a few lights on one side are out. I am wondering if we have a similar issue.
