A couple of days on the North Rim

Just a quick trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to cool off a bit. Was a lovely 54 degrees at night and low 80's during the day.

Luckily not a lot of smoke from the Pocket Fire near Sedona had blown into the canyon.

Wildflowers were in full bloom, including these skyrockets and lupine.

USFS DeMott campground was almost vacant but well maintained with a great camp host. Campground is about 25 miles south of Jacob Lake and about 20 miles north of the rim.

Got a bit of ham radio in while at the campsite. My very portable FX4CR puts out about 20 watts on 20 m and 40 m bands with my linked dipole.

Made a few contacts with Parks on the Air stations around the region. Bands weren't great, but it is always a good time anyway.
