We definitely have had some wild weather this spring and it is always a concern when Linda and I travel to and from Arizona. On the way home in late April I actually drove 100 miles off course in a more NW track to avoid the golf ball size hail in Texas near the Dallas/Fort Worth area. And when I was up into Missouri and Illinois I couldn't believe how much flooding was taking place.
Something I did learn about 5 years ago traveling through Texas is that you not only keep abreast of pending weather fronts, you also head for cover immediately when driving. People in TX drive up under the large canopies in gas stations and also get beneath expressway underpasses to avoid the large hail that is common with these weather systems. I have even driven into car wash bays to keep the trailer and my vehicle from being damaged by hail stones.
