Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and plan to buy a Tag teardrop. I've been researching for a long time and I am ready to take the plunge. I have a 2011 Subaru Forester that I plan to tow with. The older years can tow more than the newer and mine is rated for 2400 lbs. In theory I should be able to tow a Tag camper, but my question is does anyone actually tow with a Forester? What has been your experience?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I tow my 2018 T@G 5' wide with a 2012 Rav4 4x4 (4cly) rated to tow 1500 lbs. My payload of the Rav4 is around 1071 lbs.
I have had no problems. I usually drive with my cruise control at around 63-65MPH. Driving in the mountains uphill, the car will drop down a gear and on occasion two gears for a short period. I do have to watch my loading weight. I put very little extra weight in trailer.
You should have no problems with the Forester.
Enjoy!
get a transmission oil cooler installed by your dealer
This ^^^, & remember all the extras will add weight to the package fast...
My 2004 Forester was rated for 2400 lbs and it did great with my T@G. That said...my upgrade to a 2012 Outback made the up-hills a lot easier.

Towing capacity of the Forester should be adequate. Tongue weight is a bigger factor. That and the cargo capacity of your TV.

Hello. I also have a 2011 Forester and purchased a T@G in 2015. No issues towing. Slow on the steep and/or long hills, but that is to be expected. I got a transmission cooler installed. I also try and keep things simple and don't pack lots of extras that aren't necessary.
Thanks everyone, that makes me feel more confident! I'm definitely going to look into having a transmission oil cooler installed. Great advice
