You may have noticed that a new post remains highlighted and the “New” indicator is persistent following reading of a post.
Vanilla is aware and they are working on a fix.

  Me.  I just Mark All Viewed when I'm done with a session.   (But the first six months I was a member, I did view them all, so doing it doesn't hide anything from me)
