Chromecast?
A friend suggested using a chromrcast to stream videos from a phone. It sounds like it should be simple, but after buying one, we realized it requires an internet connection. Does anyone have experience with this? Suggestions?

This is discussed in probably greater detail in other threads (check the Search function upper page right), but we simply download from Netflix and Prime onto a tablet before leaving home, connect tablet to TV using a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI adapter, and run sound through the DVD player by pressing the Aux One button and turning down the Tv's sound. It's great for rainy nights. Some folks also use an HD antenna.
Welcome to the forum and happy trails to you.

I've also seen many of the small satellite units outside trailers and teardrops too. There are plenty of options available, it just depends on how much money you want to spend and how serious you want to get.

Mittens..if you start with the fact that most camp site locations you might want to stay at do not have cable TV connects, WiFI, cell service, etc. you’ll have to go to the high tech alternative. That means downloading your TV, Movies, etc. before you get out off reach with the connected world. You can do it on a phone, tablet, or lap top. Not many other options other than the expense of satellite.

Honestly, we aren’t particularly interested in watching tv while camping, but of course it’s there, and there are those times when weather is funky, and maybe it wouldn’t be too bad to be able to watch something when trapped in the camper.

I noticed theres a USB port on the Jensen. I'm not sure what the particular files are that the head unit will read but if someone had either a flash drive (memory stick) or a terabyte drive you could place several movies on a device the size of pack of gum or a book. The flash drive wouldnt have to have a power source.but the terabyte drive could hold the entire Band of Brothers series in UHD ( the storming the beach scenes might be a hoot in the campground with an upgraded stereo)
