My Modifications so far...

I purchased a 5' wide 2019 Nucamp Boondock Edge. It would not fit in my garage without taking off the yakima awning. I replaced the yakima 60" round bars with 78" bars, changed the support brackets so the awning could be hung underneath the bars and now my tag fits in the garage without taking the awning off!

Nice work.
Do not know if you did try to slide the bars fisrt. It could have prvented the need to purchase new bars. For different reason, I had to slide mine to install my ARB awning with home made brackets.
