Finished our new front storage box

Needed a way to carry our new generator (won't fit in the MINI) so we swapped out the box. Really happy with how it came out. Cut some 3 inch holes in the back corners and added screened soffit vents. Fashioned a rectangle out of some light angle iron to keep the battery in place and mounted the Zamp socket for the solar panels under the right rear corner. Still need to mount some anchor points for bungee cords to keep the gennie and gas can in place. Tongue weight is right at 160 lbs as pictured with an empty galley and dry water tank.

    Nice job, but please, do not use bungee cord to ancore heavy stuff like that. A rope it way better that a bungy, and you can find pre made straps like to one already used for you battterie.

    You will never find a load rating on a bungy cord.

    Since my post I designed and started to fabricate a solid arm to keep the generator in place inside the box. I was more concerned with side pressure from the bungees on the aluminum box than the bungees themselves. Will post pic when it's done, got one more trip to Lowe's to make.

    This is what I came up with to keep the generator from sliding around, mostly parts already in the garage! there are foam pads double-stick taped to the back and side of the box. Now to find a nice bumpy road to test it out.

    Also, had that space behind the box under the curved front of the T@G, didn't want to waste it so now we have a place to store our rolled up rugs and mats.

    1lbs lp gas bottles fit in those pvc tubes nicely also

    @Somemedic I am with @LuckyJ on this. You might want to rethink the bungee cord. Ratchet strap with eyes mounted to the box?     I'd try the pvc setup. I think the gennie will ride just fine like that. I do have some personal issues with that gasoline tank though. I personally have a hate-relationship with thin-wall fuel cans. It will get hot inside the toolbox and those thin-wall cans will blow up like balloons. You've got great venting in the toolbox so that will help. Just be careful not to overfill that gas can. Don't ask me how I know.....

    Sorry CampHub and LuckyJ, but I have to go with my instincts on this one and my gut says it'll be fine like that.

    The original posts are from March last year, have a lot of miles last season with it set up that way and seems to work fine. What you can't see well is the high density foam on the back wall and side of the box that the generator sits against, just having it crammed into the corner almost keeps it in place.

    You may be able to intall the LowPro Lockdown inside the tub too. We just installed a LUND Challenger box on the front of our TAG. installing an 11lb propane tank and 2 6volts. still lots of storage. Thinking of using the xtra space to hook up the propane instant hot water heater but habe to figure out logistics and safety first. I

    The generator is only in the box for transport, actually, have only brought it on one trip in two years, if we don't have hookups, we do without AC (and A/C), have done up to 24-day trips with just the stock battery and a 100 watt solar suitcase (and the 180 watt alternator in our Mini Cooper).
