Does Dometic Two Burner Stove Top Require Power for Propane to Flow?

I was making sure that the galley stove was all ready to go for our next outing and noticed that when the battery or shore power are disconnected from the camper that no propane flows when the stove burner nobs are turned to the open position. Is this normal? Both nucamp and my dealer said that propane should flow even if the unit is not connected to power. I crawled underneath the trailer and discovered that there is a solenoid on the propane line very close to where the A/C drip hose is. If there is no power then the solenoid remains closed and no propane can flow. Does this seem correct? Have others experienced this? Thanks for any help.

    The solenoid is connected to the left rear hatch strut as a safety switch so that the popane will shut off if the rear hatch is closed.


    The solenoid will also remain closed if it does not get power.


    I believe they started putting the solenoids on 2018 and newer models.


    I have a 2020 and I removed mine.

    I have a 2019 and I have to deal with that. Yes, there must be power or it wont light.

    I have a 2018. It does not have the solenoid shut off.
    Seems like a good safety feature, but a power draw when in use.
    I just turn off the tank when not using.
    I would likely bypass, if I had one.

    We discovered the 2021 Tag XL BD...has to have power to ignite the propane stove.

    I confirmed with nuCamp tech that the solenoid placement started with both the TaG and TaB mid 2018 model year.

    For those that removed the switch and presumably the shutoff under the camper, what did you do with the wiring that went to the under-campers shutoff valve?

    @rchawla this isn't my mod, but this is what I plan to do eventually with the solenoid. This way you can leave the solenoid in place under the camper.

    Our solenoid isn’t working consistently so I’d like to remove it.

    Can you tell me how you removed the solenoid? Do you have pictures?
