2018 tag xl spare

I bought a 2018 tag xl a month ago from the original owner. Getting ready for an east coast trip north I wanted to check the spare. There was none. I contacted original owner who is an honest guy in my opinion. He said there was never a spare with the tag xl. I bought a spare and there is no place to mount it. Am I missing something on the trailer? I read there should be a crank on the passenger side under the door. There is nothing there. If these did not come with spares were is everyone mounting the spare?
