Cabinet and galley mods

I was inspired by others and put a shelf under the sink. I did not fully encapsulate the plumbing as every square inch in these units is of value. Put soft stuff near the plumbing to things keep working as advertised. Just need to keep in mind there might be heat from the burners after cooking that could make things more then interesting on the upper shelf. I used 1/2" plywood gorilla glue and a small staple gun for assembly, then simple L brackets to attached with 1/2 countersunk screws.

Also inspired by others. Great mod used just this past windy weekend so coffee and breakfast could be served.

I too, used my pirate windscreen when making coffee yesterday! Made about 5 pots (espresso cups) of coffee and it worked great! You get a gold star

@TomD Here are some pictures of the galley shelf. Yes, very staged but gives you an idea that a loaf of bread doesn't get crushed.

After cleaning up the bacon grease off the wood behind the stove I saw the wisdom of having a more durable back splash. Inspired by others here is what an 8"x33" stainless back splash installed with contact cement looks like.

This was my simple on the fly solution for the burners.

That has worked well for me too. When I use only one burner it can be placed between the burners, to surround just the one. Plus it is very cost effective and easy!

Wind velocity and direction has a lot to do with the most appropriate wind protection for the burners. All the ideas presented here are nice solutions.

Hello! This looks great! Did you cut the wind screen & backsplash to size yourself? If so, I see that you used stainless steel & contact cement. I am not handy, but this looks doable. Huzzah to that! My minions an I were out yesterday on a "day trip" and desperately in need of coffee. Although the wind was strong, my stove (with LuckyJ's stove gadget) did coffee and tea duty all day.

Hi! @JennF ,

I had a sheet metal shop cut a piece of 22 gauge stainless 8" x 33" and I cut out the hole for the pump switch using a small drill and a file. Fair warning, stainless is not easy to work with. I have seen folks use a door kick plate instead of going to a sheet metal shop. I used good old contact cement 2 coats each side to install it. The "Gold Star Winning" wind screen was a un-shameful knock off of what @LuckyJ shared with the group! http://teardrop-trailers.vanillacommunity.com/discussion/147/le-refuge-mods-and-up-grade-by-lucky-j/p1 I used some leftover unob-ta-nium pop rivets from my aviation mechanic days to put it together.

Thank you, @CampHub! I'm going to steal yours & @LuckyJ 's idea for the screen! Tried the burner for the first time this weekend, and one side was out in just the first few minutes. For the bacl spalsh, you can also find polish alluminium sheet in hardware stores, deco and trim departement. It is light, and way easier to work with than stainless steel to work with. Just not as resistant to scratch, but you should not need steel wool to clean this up.

This is my solution to more counter space when the stove is not being used. The slots keep the wood spacer firmly in place and it lifts the cutting board above the knobs. Sometimes it is just a little cutting board

After replacing the removable water jug/tank with a permanent 11 gallon tank, there was a couple inch tall, full depth space between the top of the new tank and the bottom of the cook-top. Using a purchased bamboo flatware divider I fabricated a drawer to utilize the space. it hides behind the stock cabinet door when closed.
Looking at @CampHub pictures , I thought this approach would work in the T@G galley.
It is one of our favorite galley mods.

As with most T@G'ers, I have found my trailer to be great, but devoid of a few esoteric storage treatments. I also fitted a cavernous slide-out drawer in the space previously occupied by the microwave and as an afterthought, added a small full-depth drawer in the space next to the sink. I use it to stash my silverware and cooking tools. It's small but incredibly handy. Everything is right there with a quick pull of the drawer. I use the big drawer as my druggies stash and also to put large dinner plates and cups. No more digging around under the cabinet to find something! Now to work pirating a shelf system from ideas here for the space around the plumbing.
Nice work all! Great ideas are about 50% cleverness and the rest plagiarism!

Inspired by the @CampHub example and the simplicity of @BBsGarage solution, I came up with this:

I used some one inch strips of aluminum flashing. Where they overlap I pop riveted them together leaving a long free end on the inside. Bending them around two of the legs of the grate adjusts the fit and keeps it in place.

Totally untested but I think it looks promising. Nothing but some leftovers and time invested.

The best solution I have found up to this point is a segmented folding wind guard made for use around small camp stoves. There is not really a stable place to set it on that little stovetop where it is not easily knocked over but it has helped.

I'm hoping the new one just eliminates the need for this or anything else.

OUCH!

The nuclear fusion LED light in the lid of the kitchen is great for doing surgery on a pitch black night but tough as a low level get another beverage from the cooler light. I used the back of the 12v power socket to supply power with a 3 amp inline fuse a $14 amazon order to bring some warm light to the galley. The tough part was getting the wiring from one side of the t@g to the other. Removal of the A/C unit and some mechanical fingers did the trick.
