Mosquitos

First sleep in our nuCamp T@G since the “season” began, along with mosquitos. The first hour we had the Fantastic fan going as it was a bit warm inside. After turning the fan off, we noticed an hour or so later that mosquitos had somehow entered. A good portion of the night was spent swatting mosquitos. This morning, we saw a small gap on the side of the fan unit which leads us to think that they got in through there. We really want to nip this in the bud before doing my real travelling through mosquito infested country. If it is the gap, then we can caulk it. Does anyone know of mosquitos finding their way through or around the windows and screens? Can the come through the air conditioner vent?

    My own trailer had that problem. 99% of the problem turned out to be the screens. There is a "fix" for that via NuCamp but I went a different route. As far as the fan, there should be a screen that covers the fan well. The cowbells have screens on them as well. Make sure the vent in the underside of the trailer has a screen on it too. My guess is around the screens for the side windows and the skygazer window. My skygazer window was awful, even before it fell apart. I ended up making a different screen for it and have had no problems since.

    Check out the Thermacell line of products. They are not for indoor use, but they do establish a "dome of protection" around the T@G.

    Email help@nucamprv.com. Tell them you need the “Bug Fuzz” to prevent insect entry around the sides of the screens. The above link will direct you to how to install without disassembling your screens.

    The fix we use is only camp above 9k’ from May through Sept. Stay in Air Conditioned cabins and enjoy home, the pool, and drinking margaritas during the summer.

    Works real good !

    Well, we do not have 9000 feet above in our neck of the continent. And tgey only way for him to camp away from mosquitos and bitting bugs is to camp whe the lakes are still frozen, witch can reach mid may to urly june or tge small window before they freeze, between late august and end of november. 😆

    Btw, the screens are no good for noseehum. I made a noseehum c9ver for our side windows that we just place with a small bungee cord, work great, did tge same by wrapping tge fan screen. Did not fo7nd a solution for the stargazer window, so it stays shut at night.

    I've attached 3 pics. In one, you can see the bug fuzz is already there. But we've also found gaps on the inside where the stargazer from meets the wall. Is it possible that mosquitos are finding their way in through there? And do any of you T@G owners find you have similar gaps?

    Checked out some of the Thermacell line of products as mosquito repellent. Had a unit at Costco for $49 with two refills. Doing research I found that Thermacell active ingredient is allethrin, a synthetic version of a naturally occurring repellent found in chrysanthemum flowers. Sounded ok right? I next checked the reviews and did some more scrutiny. I found the product was not for me due to the hazardous components used with the repellent. That's just me, so others can make up their own minds.
    Noted in the MSDS are things like: "pesticide is highly toxic to fish" "Handling precautions: Avoid contact and inhalation of the vapours. Do not eat or drink while working." "Harmful by inhalation" "Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment"
