T@G cutting board.

OK, so we've had our T@G for 2 years now and haven't used the cutting board, it's still in the bubble wrap!
This needs to change, so my question is should we oil it before using? If so what oil is best?

    Any food grade mineral oil product will work. We use John Boos Mystery Oil and Board Cream on all our wood boards, the added beeswax seems to help the oil finish last, especially in the T@G because of the constantly changing environments in all the places we camp. Our only problem is keeping the board in place over the sink, never seems to still be there when we open the hatch!

    The T@G cutting board is the first and only cutting board that I treat. I want to keep it beyond the life of the trailer. So what is said up here is good to follow.

    As for keeping it in place, I forgot about this a long time ago. I made a bag, and store it under the sink (modified and compartimented space).

    My cutting board ( 2015 LG Silver Shadow) was not of very high quality to start with so I won’t put a lot of effort into it’s upkeep. A higher quality wood and construction I definitely would. Look at what you have before you commit to something.

    It's really not that big of a commitment and I would rather at least try to not have food waste being absorbed into the wood.

    Does anyone know of a carving board that can be purchased that fits on the sink (as in: We no longer have the original T@G cutting board)?

    I might make myself a new cutting board (probably buy one from Amazon and cut it to size) as mine is getting decrepit after four years. A new one will receive more love and beeswax than the old one.

    Also, if you have the electric fridge with the pullout tray under it, the cutting board fits perfectly between the handle of the pullout and the fridge. That way it won’t bounce off the sink while driving. Just don’t try to slide out the fridge without removing the cutting board, after traveling.

    Our T@G cutting board is still in the owners zippered bag with all the warranty and instructions for everything under the bed. We use a smaller non-wood cutting board made out of micro something anti bacterial board.

    Yes, oil the board before use and keep cleaned and oiled. We go the home-made route by combining Beeswax and Coconut Oil.

    I just brought 2021 Tag home. No cutting board or cover over the sink, should I have received one? If not, what alternative?

    @homerd - I think they discontinued the cutting board. No mention or pictures with the 2020 or 2021 models. Some owners use HDPE to make an insert. Another option is a silicone coated cooling rack that lays across the sink.

    A cutting board did not come with my 2014 T@G, so I bought an "OXO Good Grips Utility Cutting Board" and used a hole saw to cut the corner out. The sink faucet fits perfectly in the cutout, and the board stays in place while traveling. Simple, clean, light, cheap...(just like me before I got married).
