I will need to install a 7 pin connection for trailer brake control, charging and lights. A dealer just mentioned to me the Curt Echo due to its non-invasive installation. He said lots of people are opting for this option. I need to have a 7 pin connection installed. Would the Curt Echo bypass the need to install the brake control portion? Or maybe I should opt for the traditional installation after reading this post. https://teardrop-trailers.vanillacommunity.com/discussion/comment/8620#Comment_8620
We have a Curt brake controller. We had a 4 pin connector with our car but we had to have it adapted to a 7 pin connector. This then connects to the Curt and then the T@G. It works great.

I'm searching and seeing a lot of 4 to 7 pin adapters. I think I'd stick with Curt.It looks like the adapter comes with the extra wires for power to charge, electric brakes and reverse lights. They have to be wired in separately. Are you using the Curt Echo that works off of Bluetooth on your phone?
I'd really like to know if this type of setup is as good as the traditional way of wiring in a 7 pin connection. With a 8000 mile road trip next summer, I really don't want to run into any troubles.
We just took our 2018 Tag XL on first trip. We have the Echo system: sensitivity setting of 4. Had no problems so far.
Tried out the Echo just the other day. I’d like to fine tune it more as the instructions say you should dial it in just shy of locking up the wheels or something of the sort.
Well, no mater how hard I tried, with 2 different TV and controler, I have never been able to lock the wheels of the T@G but never tried on snow or ice. 😉
