With a cross country trip coming this summer, we're trying to figure out how to best use the 8 gallon built in water tank. When at a campground, we really don't want to drink water that was pumped into the tank with a camp water hose. What do most T@G owners do? Carry a separate water jug for storing additional water? The little water spigot on the side of the T@G probably is not suited for showering. I think some may buy tankless hot water tanks for showering, but that requires a 12V pump. We really don't want to be carrying along so many accessories for simple tasks. What is the best way to make use of the 8 gallon system on the T@G?

that tank is for dishes and outdoor showers, get an igloo and put drinkable water and ice in it
We're actually thinking of a Thermoelectric cooler which wouldn't need ice, or, a portable 12V fridge for in the vehicle. They're pricier for sure.
If you're looking for good drinking water, get a Berkey water filter system. It's made all the difference in the world for us because we can filter ANY water with it which means no more buying bottles/gallons of water for coffee or drinking water!! We use the 8 gallon fresh basically for rinsing dishes and washing hands. We carry 2 5 gallon "jerry cans" (that we fill at parks or home) on the front of our TAG and use that in the Berkey and to refill 8 gallon fresh water when boondocking. Works for us!

Same hose/filter system that I utlize. Only difference is I carry three 10 foot hose sections instead of two 25 footers.
Same here, in line filter and potable water hose. If I'm off grid, I would have no problems drinking from the onboard tank, but that's me. I also have 12 gallon tank mounted on my TV rack and other various 5 gallon cans.
I was looking at the Berkey system today. Its not a filter, its a water purifier. You could put ditch water in that thing and drink it, However, a very expensive option. But if I bought it for the house but took it camping too I could probably justify the cost.
