Power - surge protection - EMS

I understand that when connected to 30 am campground an surge EMS is a must. my question has to do with plugging into 120 house or inverter generator for power. What are the recommendations for surge protection? I just bought a used 2016 T@G xl max.

We even use our EMS at home with our 15 or 20 amp outlets. You just never know.
