Can anyone advise on their best choice of securing down their generator on the front aluminum basket on Boondocks? I'm thinking some think vinyl covered cable with a lock?
I ended up purchasing a heavy duty Kryptonite lock chain that I can thread through the handle and the basket. Now I know that if they really want the thing they can cut the handle off, but I want to make them work for it or damage the heck out of it in the process. They do sell a tray that locks to the basket and then secures to the bottom of the genny using the existing mounts (pads). It's a little pricey, but it looks like a pretty secure option. This is also why I went with a less expensive generator and not the Honda; it's much easier for me to plop down another 400 bucks for a new one as opposed to over a grand. If we are boondocking a leaving the site for a while, I will either secure it to my Jeep or put it inside a box and throw it inside the Tag while we are gone. Look into the Krypto lock- it's a lot better than some cheapo cable lock that anyone with a set of basic tools can defeat. https://www.amazon.com/Kryptonite-York-Fahgettaboudit-1415-Chain/dp/B001SMUB7G/ref=asc_df_B001SMUB7G/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198084925599&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10827970538679251529&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012369&hvtargid=pla-381360330145&psc=1
We just picked up a generator last night for our 2021 Boondock xl so now looking for a good way to secure it. Thanks for providing an Amazon link for the kryptonite lock. Do you have any photos of how you secured it that you are willing to share?

Yep, that would be a good option.
Make sure that tge tie down part is done with good quality straps and then the securing part with your cable.
Then find a way to cover from the element. If people are not sure what is under the tarp, it is not as tempting.
And pkease, no bungee cords but for tge cover. 😉
