I think the bear box looks larger than it was in this picture. It’s no bigger than any other box you’ll find in the Sierras. We were stoked it was so close to the rig. Most are a lot further away and a pain to lug all your food over to.

Yes! You only have to worry about the occasional rattlers on the trail hikes.

Forgot to include the price of gas when camping remotely in California.

We went out for four days around Father's Day to Mt. Laguna CA. US Forest Service land. A few friends came and joined us. A different cook each day. Had a great time. Did experience a nearby fire (Overland Fire 513 Acres), but when we checked it out at the local fire station, our nerves were calmed. Of course stopping at the Pine House Cafe & Tavern helped. Road getting in and out was slow due to conditions, and only one party got lost finding there way. Nobody got stuck. Flies were not fun early morning and evening, but winds increased slightly every day and kept them away. No camp fires permitted.
