Chinese Diesel Heater

Newest mod is addition of diesel heater. I loved what I saw William (T@g moderator) do to mount his but couldn’t engineer that myself. Instead I mounted the unit under my trailer in a $30 metal conduit box. Ran the duct work up through the interior wall for the warm air intake and warm air exhaust. Wrapped all my exterior lines in header wrap to insulate more than bare metal. Thing really blasts some hot air. I will likely tune it down like William did as it is so hot for the small space. I did steal his idea and installed a 2 ft section of brake line for a fire extinguisher if ever there were an emergency that required it. Rest of the duct stuff was all Home Depot. Mounted my gas tank in the tongue box.

So how does the heated air get in the cabin? Is the upper space ducted as well, or are you just utilizing the entire chamber? This is really nicely done!

I ran flexible duct tubing in the hollow wall for the heat intake and exhaust. Heat blows from next to stereo, intake is by the fuse box. I’ve actually opened up that wall in several locations for additional storage when I found that I could. The louvered vent on the bottom of the trailer is actually plugged by insulation. I closed it off when I removed the ac system that used that (which I don’t need in CA)

Also, do you have concerns about the horizontal mounting of the heater unit?

Fuel tank is in the front storage compartment. I swapped out the unit supplied with the heater with a triangular unit I found online that tucks in nicely against the rounded front of the trailer. On the mounting I found that even the high end units can be mounted on their side as long as the glow plug is mounted upward. Has to do with fuel being left in the chamber and not leaking or accumulating. Perfectly fine to do.
