2020 T@G mounding insert

Seen a lot of posts here about the trim mounding insert cracking. Anyone tried caulk? (Mine cracked and was flapping down the highway too)

I assume you are referencing the vinyl insert that runs along both sides of the trailer top. Silicon caulk worked for a very short time for me, then they started to crack more and get worse. They really do not do much, besides looks (cover screw heads).
Just pull them off to eliminate the flapping.
Replacing them can be easy or more complex if one disassembles the front pull handles completely. I did not find the need to go to that extent.
    Vinyl insert cost around $23.
I am exploring the concept of redoing mine and adding some LED light strips inside. I would power them from the galley area using a USB power bank and USB power regulator. I am not sure if the vinyl is opaque enough for my mod. Need to do some testing.
       (Just a thought).
