Quick Connect on Exterior Hose

Hi I'm trying to use the exterior hose on my 2021 nuCamp Tag for the first time. The quick connect does not seem to work. I am pushing back on the collar and inserting the quick connect end of the hose but it does not seat at all. It just falls out. Any ideas for what is going on?

I never needed to slide the collar back when inserting the hose; I just pushed the hose barb into the receptacle on the camper and it snapped right in. The collar is only meant to release it.

NuCamp does a great job of not making it easy to see what you are doing with the exterior hose. The good news is that the connection process should be a one hand operation.
