It's only IIRC four #2 square drive wood screws (or maybe it's only two? I'm stuck at work right now) to pull the AC unit; it really couldn't be much Easy-Peasier. The part that might be a challenge is finding another window unit of the same dimensions to replace it, if you can't find the exact same make/model. Maybe an appliance repair facility close to you could evaluate the unit's compressor. I know the AC unit in my T@G - a GE 5000-btu unit - is decently quiet.
