I have seen the Yakima rack on top of T@Gs and they seem to mount on two tracks that runs front-to-back near the "shoulders" of the T@G.
My question...How are the tracks fastened? Do the mounting screws go all the way through the roof and into the interior?
Alternatively, are the track fasteners screwed into metal cross members in the ceiling? This would be a more "elegant" solution I'd think, and what I would do. But, I don't know where the metal cross members are, and could easily miss them and not have as sturdy a mount as is required.
I got a quote for the rack/labor from the factory, but have not inquired as to whether installing it is a do-it-yourself job. Anybody have some experience with this? Is there a template available showing where the cross members are?
TIA.

They give you a template so you’ll know how and where to attach. I asked a about it when I was at UCamp. Decided not to do it since my interest was to use for kayaks and decided it was better to put them on the tow vehicle
