Looking to order a custom 2019 t@g boondock edge with heat/hot water and screen doors like the tab. Possibly two 6 v batteries in series with factory solar panels. Anyone know if these options are possible?
Out of all those options only the roof mounted 100w solar panels is an option. You will have to mod the rest on your own. (I have a custom order sheet so I know the options)
The only thing I have seen that will work is an external water heater that plugs into a 12V source and heats water in a separate tank. If you could remove the microwave in the XL, replace it with a water tank, use the heater (available on Amazon), and run a pump to either the sink or an outdoor shower spigot, you'd have a basic system. As for indoor heat, I have found the best thing is to use an small electric heater when hooked up. I am sure a nice little propane heater can be used off the grid with good results too. Not sure if NuCamp offers any options for factory installed items aforementioned.
You usually see those mounted inside a Pelican case on the side of the more rugged teardrops. They mostly have a quick connect to the gas line and then you have to plumb in a water source.
I think White Pigeon Michigan has a camper Surplus Store there and 6 gallon hot water heaters are pretty easy to come by. It's just finding a location the park one of those units into the teardrop. Best bet would be into a new tongue box on the front of the camper. It would be no easy feat.
The road shower looks like nothing more than a glorified solar shower....with the glorified price to boot. Camping as much as I have, I have learned the solar shower is not too effective unless it's warm and sunny and you take the shower right before the sun starts to dip below the horizon. Otherwise you're better off soaking in a cold creek or pouring the contents of your igloo water cooler all over yourself.
I just spoke with Meagan with Hiker Trailer out of Indy which is a 2 hr drive from me. She said they could sell an on demand hot water heater that can be plumbed into my unit with quick connects and disconnects for travel.... as needed. Their unit is mounted in a pelican case on the side of the trailer and needs a LP gas source (I'd mount a 5lbs bottle on the fender to quick connect into). All this for the low low price of $895.
Matt at www.itwoverland.com his unit would be $375 which is about what I'd have to pay to put it together using a pelican... cheaper if I use the Harbor Freight box.
Joabmc... that's the going rate without the case. If I recall correctly the case is around $120. The unit still, has to be put together and then mounted to side of the camper and plumbed in. I dont mind doing the mounting and plumbing but it's worth the 75 or so to remove a step. Setting up and tearing down should also be quick and painless. This makes momma happy which in turn makes me happy.
There is no plumbing other than connecting to your water source and connecting to the propane. Both of those connectors (garden hose style and propane connector) are included with the unit.
Just wanted to make sure you were aware. I have the one w/ 12v pump so that we can hook into a 5 gal water jug and be away from the trailer if needed.
I will end up plumbing into the galley sink so I can have a hand wash without frostbite. The lame kitchen sink has to go and that tall industrial sprayer set up (ie luna) will get put in. The warm water will be a bonus

a wise person on this site once said. "you really find out what you need and don't need after you taken it out a few times". one of the best things I have discovered is get yourself a couple of insulated water bottles, heat some water on the stove, fill up the bottles. you can wake up the next morning and STILL have hot water to wash up with, sponge bath, what ever your needs. I have a couple of 48oz bottles. it lasts well over 24 hours if you get a couple of good bottles... I found I didn't even need a hot water heater.
spend $40.00 dollars on a decent "Hydro Flask" or something of the sort. the water stays hot for over 24 hours. Works Great!!!

I really dought that there is enough available space in a T@G to install an Alde system like they have on a T@B.
I think you shoild contact nucamp directly.

Thank you for your replies! I wrote the factory and will post their response.
Interested in what they have to say...
Same here. Always interested in possible up-grade.
And would like to kown, if they can do it, how the would do it.
Martog, where did you get the "custom order sheet"? it would be nice to be able to plan ahead before visiting my dealer...thanks for any info!
Have there been any updates on this? I'm also looking to retrofit a hot water heater into my unit.
Any updated from the factory??
check out the Optima Blue top 12v, it fits the compartment and has a very robust charge

I have a road shower on our Jeep. Works when it's sunny
All the calculations show it can’t work. There’s only one thing to do: make it work.

save yourself lots of $$$$ and get one of these. It’s the same exact item others are selling you without the huge markup.

Also look into the Marey model. Reviews are split and they do the same thing.

Just have to throw some money at it

Hope you will post pics of the install.
As far as heaters go, the Propex HS2000 looks awesome, but they cost about $800 without installation. Propex also makes water heaters as well.
