I'm the person you want to sit next to at the campground at night because all of the mosquitoes and flies will bite me - not you. Anyone else have this issue? How do you deal with cooking outdoors at night, with a light above you? I react badly to certain insects and we've got a lot of them in Florida! Are there any attachable tents that area really bug-proof?

I think I would recommend a Thermocell bug repellent system.

I hate cooking with insects. My eyesight is not so great and the tiny spatulas are hard for me to use...
Up here in northern Wisconsin where mosquito's were invented, we have the same problem. We use the time-tested technique of sitting while they fill up, then they go away. I've tried many techniques to get rid of them, but the one that works best for me is insect repellent with Deet. "Cutters" insect repellent works well and also (less so) I've had okay luck with "Deepwoods Off". For sitting around the campfire, which is like putting up a billboard that says: "Mosquito Smorgasboard Here!", I find that wearing light raingear will pretty much discourage them from biting. That works well for me when they are really thick. Another thing you can do is get rid of the white light. It's like a Lighthouse Beacon for bugs. Put a yellow or red lens cover on your galley light. That helps a lot.

I am witu you on this. I di not like bàck flies, noseeum, hosre flies, small and large, and of course mosquitoes (maringouin in french). And Mike think tgey were invented in Northern Wisconsin, He simply doesn't know that we shipped them south of the border early in the spring and si ply drop tyem in wet places in the state. It is a life time supply contract that can not be address and modified in any freetrade aggreement. Lol.
So far, I have to say that we plan a lot of our trips around bugs season, but we never really had to deal with bugs to much. We were lucky. But just in case I get in a bad bug situation, I still carry a portable one or 2 burner stove to be able to cook in a bug shelter.
And I am not a big fan of super lightes camping site, so that help reduce the dinner bug is ready. Only seldon use the big led light for a long period of time, even the indside ones.
Luc,
I've long suspected that you guys have been training them to fly south for the summer.....lol

Oups, I have just let the word out that youre borders are not that air tight as you guys tought!
The Coleman Mountain View shelter, sold online at Costco has 4 screen sides and fits over the T@G galley. There are some gaps but as good as you can find.

I was looking for suggestions from you all regarding how to cover the rear galley in the event hordes of mosquitoes and or Locust descend upon me whilst I'm making me and Mama a burger. It would appear that a lot of SUV hatch tents would be a possibility and maybe some of you had used 1 and what your experience might be.
I was looking for something along the lines of this

What you have found could be among tte best options outthere. A thing is sure, to be efficient, no openning what so ever should be available to them (the bugs), cause they always find a way in, no matter how small and when so, it is like they get in line behind one an other to get in. Lol
I think in this instance industrial velcro might by a best friend.
We moved from Alaska where mosquitoes drain the caribou of blood, but they are NOTHING compared to Florida's yellow flies. They spit on your DEET. Luckily they're only around for a month or two. The only solution I've found so far is to carry steroids and stay inside. Therefore, tent solution if possible.
Thanks, Somemedic, this is what I was hoping as well. Thanks.
Just saw this. It looks to be just about the right size for that XL galley.
Edited for picture resizing.
This Rightline SUV Tent works great for us.
