Howdy all! A few weeks back, we bit the bullet and picked up a T@G XL Boondock, and we could not be happier. Chelsea and I have been outdoorsy people forever, and decided we should migrate from a tent to something a bit more substantial. I have worked in the outdoors (National Park Service, and now with New Mexico State Parks) for more than 12 years, and Chelsea is a teacher of middle school gremlins. We both look forward to modding our little camper, and getting out into the woods for some much needed relaxation!

man, I like all your stuff, killer Triumph. We have a Boondock XL, can you give me a best of NM recommendation, we live in SoCal and want to focus on NM this spring
you tow that with a Mini?
Thanks! I definitely like my toys. Haha. The MINI is a special edition, and is mostly a garage queen. I tow with a GMC Canyon with the 2.8 diesel.

Well, I have my fingers crossed that our state parks will open for out-of-state campers here soon. My state park has been open for day-use only for months, and I really miss having campers in the park. All of NM is absolutely beautiful, but northern NM is especially nice in the summer. The weather is cool, the monsoon storms make for breathtaking ambiance, and the scenery in general is awesome. NM is over 80% public land, and we have many national forests and national parks that have camping opportunities. We are likely going to spend our summer weekends out in the camper somewhere up north. The only area of the state that is kind of "meh" would be the southeast corner. It is all oil country and has the typical smells and sights of oil rigs and burn off vents.

Welcome!! I just picked up my new 5w Boondock a couple of weeks ago. Playing with it in the garage currently, getting out mid February. Still a bit nippy in western Colorado currently.

Thanks! We’ve had our cold morning here in southern NM (13-14 degrees), but we have only camped down to about 40 so far. Can’t wait to get out and about more when the weather warms up as well. Might even do a run up to your neck of the woods. I love the Durango area.

Holler if you come up this way.....I'm up by Glenwood Springs but we will be meandering about.....Feb. and March we're headed down by Moab.

That’s the best time of year to be in Moab. Cool temps and lots of places to adventure. Moab is on my list once I can get out and about again. For now, northern NM will be our summer getaway spot, most likely.

Welcome, I’m an NMSU alumni. Camped @ City of the Rocks, but went to Ruidoso a lot, Lincoln County Area.
Awesome! Cloudcroft/Ruidoso are probably my most favorite places in southern NM. City of Rocks is one of my sister parks, and our camper will definitely be there when we reopen for camping again.

I’ll know y’all if I see y’all in Lincoln county. Congrats !
NM LEO’s don’t enforce the restrictions and laugh at me whenever I call to inquire. I spent all summer and fall on BLM and National Forrest land and a few state parks. Probably will buy a place in Lincoln County within the next few years where I can roll down the hill to Holloman AFB or 9hrs back to San Antone.
Congratulations on ur recent purchase. Last summer I stayed in Red River at Columbine camp ground. I use my Golden Park pass so only $10. A night. Then, to South Fork to great camp around a lake called Big meadow. I bought Tag in Salida and use Toyota 4Runner. I prefer a strong tow vehicle! I bought a generator and use it for microwave. The solar is great and use the app to monitor. Also the free camping in Salida is great.
Happy camping!!
You guys who speak of getting your trailer out and about in Feb and March. Ours is parked in our driveway because it was just trucked in a couple of weeks ago, but when we store it next early November, it will be socked in with snow till early to mid May. And even then, the backyard will be iffy to drive across to connect to our T@G.
in Moab focus on Kings Bottom for camping. Along the river or furthur down the road at Ledges. Needles district out of Monticello a must. In Canyonland Willow Flat Campground is remote and close to hikes
Lucky for us, we can find somewhere to camp year round down here in southern NM and southwest AZ. Just lose elevation when it’s too cold and gain elevation when it’s too warm. 😂😂
