Very interesting...good thing you posted that up, mgreen2. As for the Jackitup, I just spent over 400 bucks on a quality Thule rack for our two mountain bikes. I am going to have a hard time justifying another $229 for the Jackitup. It also appears as if the bikes are very close together; we have had issues with racks such…
Sounds more like a fishing pole, pendulum effect and is creating stress/metal fatigue at the bolt pattern holes. Very interesting that you found it and were able to easily correct it before something happened. It always scares me to see RV’s carrying bikes and gear off the back of their rigs. Lots of stressing going on…
Has anyone tried or seen one of these on a T@G? https://www.amazon.com/SeaSucker-Mini-Bomber-Bike-2-Bikes/dp/B00APVN8CQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527760609&sr=1-1&refinements=p_4:SeaSucker&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&dpPl=1&dpID=41TuMrRXV5L&ref=plSrch
I pointed both tires out and then had no problems if I backed in straight. It’s still a lot of work I’m going to check into extending the hitch and adding a bike rack. Found a great bike trail around Navajo lake in southern Utah.
So after trying a bunch of different setups to haul my mountain bikes around, I finally go the setup I think I will be sticking with from this moment forward. I tried using the Jack-It for the bikes, but found because I had a 29er and two large frame bikes, a lot of times they were rubbing and damaging the forks, etc.…
Most e-bikes these days you can remove the battery for transport, which saves a bunch of weight. How were you planning on transporting these? Some sort of rack? Just FYI, for 2 ebikes, most car mounted racks won't hold that kind of weight, and many hitch mounted racks will be over the limit as well.
Not sure about your vehicle but we are also kayakers and take our bikes with us. We have a receiver in the front of our truck that we will add a sturdy bike rack to. Our kayaks will go on top of the truck. Didn't really want to mount weight/wind on top of trailer.
Love these mods! I can't believe all the space behind the shelves and AC. I'd like to know about the rear bike rack you mention. How are you going to attach that?
