We’re a couple of weeks away from another long roadtrip with our tag and are in the middle of preparing our camper for our trip. I had the front window open yesterday when I noticed the top of the window looked uneven and after further inspection I found that the entire hinge mechanism had failed. A small link of “C” tubing that was glued to the actual window had let go and broke leaving about 2” of tubing still bonded to the window that acts as the window’s hinge. Here are some photos.
My question is, what’s the best course of action here? I noticed that whatever glue that was use before wasn’t spread evenly across the surface of the c-tubing which in my opinion is the reason for it’s failure. Since I have a couple of inches of the tubing still stuck to the window, I’ve got a template of sorts as of how to position and rebond the piece that came off. I’ve scraped the old glue off and sanded it smooth again and now wondering what bonding agent I should use to get this piece to stay put? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Also, would this “c-tubing” and the window be considered acrylic or abs plastic? ...in order to figure out the best bonding agent.
Give NuCamp a call, I'm sure you will find them more than accommodating.

You can drive along 10,000 miles, and still stay where you are.
Just talked to Elsie and she did fix me up. Seems the windows have this piece attached when they receive them to assemble to the camper so it's a vender issue to them. Elsie is simply sending me a replacement window since I'm still under warranty and I should have it in by Monday...and leave out Thursday for the mountains. Whew! Stress levels dropping as I type this! Thanks NuCamp!
PS, I still want to know what it takes to bond these to pieces back together incase this happens in the field. I'll report back if I ever find out.
If it is acrylic, then acetone is a good welding agent.
LuckyJ, I used Weld On #16 last night and waiting to see if it sets properly. (if it is indeed acrylic). Report to come. My new window never came in so....:(
Nothing like having to strap your window down in the rain the night before you leave for a 17 day road trip. I’m really frustrated at the moment.
Did you ever get a resolution on this issue? Did the Weld on 16 work? Same thing has happened to our T@g window except the rod didn't break, it just came unglued.
Thanks. Brenda
Likewise, would like to know what happened. Did you get the new window? We are on the road for a year, and this happened two months into our trip.
